António Ildefonso and André Rocha Architects was founded in 2008. We are a team of two architects looking to reach the simplicity and the functionalism through the individual questions of each Project. We strongly identify with the Minimalism and the Design as a complement to our architecture. Each project is started with a clearly contemporary but properly substantiated image of the idea within the existent context. The introduction of easily recognizable forms to the function and the desire of creating projects that introduce (or re-introduce) a new order that could point out new ways for the urban planning is in the baseline of this partnership.

Through this partnership we were awarded by the Town Hall of Prato (Italy) with a 3^rd Place on the GoCivic international competition. As a team we also won the 4^th Place on contest for the new school institution in the city of Vagos. We embrace these competitions as an opportunity to do research on various architectural programmes and to search for new and innovative solutions.  

António Ildefonso

Born on the 10th Februrary of 1979 in Salzedas/Tarouca, in the town of Viseu. Graduated in 2005 by the Departament of Architecture of the University of Coimbra with a final thesis on the Theme: "Memória Vertical - edifícios-torre no território português". He then took an Internship with the architect José António Barbosa with whom he still collaborated until 2008. Awarded with the 2^nd and the 3^rd Prize on the Drawing Competition organized by the University of Coimbra.

André Rocha

Born on the 29th November of 1979 in the town of Ponte de Lima. Graduated in 2005 by the Departament of Architecture of the University of Coimbra with a final thesis on the Theme: "Cinemas de Portugal -evolução arquitectónica em Portugal”. He then took an Internship with the architect José Fernando Gonçalves, with whom he still collaborated until 2008. While still working on the field of Architecture, he updates his  blogues about drawing, cartooning and urbanism regularly and this resulted on the colaboration for the making of the opening of the TV show: "Público Imobiliário", a RTPN/Jornal Público partnership as well as on the selection of two of his cartoons for the “X PortoCartoon” under the Theme: “Human Rights”.
